Their goal is to expand their program and reach all the families in Alabama who still find it difficult to afford a house in their country. A stimulus bill has been passed by the Alabama Legislature which says that the Housing Grants would spend around $6 million in order to increase housing facilities in the state.

The amount would be taken from oil and gas savings revenue account and the Alabama Housing Authorities would administer it personally. The board also introduces counseling sessions on home buying for the less fortunate people. Prices of homes given by the grants are set in a way that they do not fall as a burden on prospective home buyers. Statistics show that the AHFA have been quite successful in bringing about a change in the housing sector.

Alabama Housing and Urban Development (HUD)



Housing and Urban Development or HUD has its field office in Birmingham in Alabama. Its working hours are 8.am to 4.30pm from Monday to Friday. You can find a list of Alabama housing through HUD from their website. Its head office is located in Washington DC. HUD is partnered with the FHA (Federal Housing Association) and both work together in the development of Alabama. The HUD has certain codes and practices which all the states in the US have to follow while working with HUD. The other programs carried by the Alabama Housing and Urban Development is multifamily housing, single family housing, public housing, Indian programs, health care facility loans, fair housing, community planning and development and so on.
